Q1. What types of cake can you provide ?

We produce Birthday cakes, Wedding cakes, Christening cakes, Celebration cakes, in fact, just about any cake that you might want.

We can do cakes for corporate events, party cakes for birthday parties, any cake for any occasion. When choosing your cake, you can choose from the following basic cake types:

  • Fruit Cake - Moist, rich cakes laced with Brandy

All Fruit cakes are coated in marzipan and sugarpaste.

  • Madeira Sponge cake - Tangy Lemon, Indulgent Chocolate or Simple Vanilla

All Madeira cakes come with a buttercream filling.

All Madeira cakes are coated in sugar paste.


Our novelty cakes can only be sculpted from Madeira sponge. The standard round or square cakes can be either sponge or fruit.

But when it comes to the design of your cake, you can pretty much have whatever you like. The Cakes on our Website have been made for previous customers. To a certain extent, we are limited by what they ask for. So, if you want a particular cake, which isn't on there, it doesn't mean that it can't be made!

Animals, cars, scenes from films, flowers, traditional cakes, contemporary designs, cartoon characters, whatever you can conjure up, we can normally recreate in icing.

If you're stuck for ideas, then we will always try and give you suggestions and ideas to create the design you want. Just drop us an email and we'll help you as much as we can.

Q2.When should I order my cake ?

We need at least 6 weeks notice for a fruit cake. All fruit cakes are made to order and we need this time for the cake to develop a full flavour.


If you require a Madeira cake, we recommend that you place your order atleast 3 weeks in advance. If you do need it quickly, it's always worth giving us a ring or sending an email as we will try and help out if our workload allows. Please note that there may be an extra charge for this.

Q3. Will you deliver my cake to me?
We do prefer customers to collect their own cakes. However, we can deliver, but there will be a charge and we can give you a quote.
Sometimes delivery won't be possible due to time constraints.

Due to the very delicate nature of the cakes we do strongly recommed that they are transported on a flat, even surface, such as the front foot-well of the car or a boot. Cakes should NOT be placed on the front or rear seats. We cannot accept responsibility for cakes which have not been transported as per our recommendations.
Q4. Do I have to have a cake that is shown on the website ?

Absolutely not. The pictures on the site are purely there to show what we can do, and to give you some ideas that maybe you hadn't thought about. All our Cakes on our Website have been made for happy customers. We are limited by what they have asked for, so if you can't see the cake you are looking for, it doesn't mean that it can't be made!

All cakes and toppers are made to your requirements. We will be more than happy to discuss what you need, suggest ideas and guide you through to a final decision.

We can also adapt anything you see on the site, so if you like a cake but want to change a character, or change any colour schemes, we can do that quite easily.

Q5. How will my cake be made?

We specialise in bespoke cakes which are tailored to your requirements. We never, ever, use a cake mix. We ONLY use the finest and freshest ingredients in our cakes. Each and every ingredient is carefully weighed out and each and every free range eggs is broken. It is important that our cakes are fresh and wholesome, preservative and additive free and therefore extremely tasty.

Our cakes keep for at least a week, infact, some customers have been eating them two weeks later. Fruit cakes keep a lot longer. All cakes should be stored correctly, as listed in our Terms and Conditions. You will be given advice on how to store your cake upon collection.

Unfortunately, at the moment, we do not cater for food allergies.

Q7. How many slices will I get from my cake ?

This is a tricky one to answer because it all depends on how big you cut the slices.

We use the following table to determine what cake size is required for the number of people.

Q8. Can you supply any other party cakes?
Yes, we can. We can supply various party cakes, and these are listed on the Party page.

These cakes can also be bought individually, but there are discounts available when bought with a main cake.
Q9. Do I need to pay a deposit ?
A £25 deposit is required on all cakes, except Wedding cakes, where we require £100.

Terms and Conditions of your Order
Placing your Order

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before placing your order with Wish Cakes. By proceeding with a purchase (either by email, over the phone or in person) you are in agreement with the Terms and Conditions as stated below.

An order is not placed until you have received a confirmation email from us. Although we will try very hard to accommodate your booking we cannot guarantee that between an enquiry and placing your order there will still be availibility to make your cake.

After your order has been confirmed any alterations may carry an additional charge. This will depend on any materials and time required to make these changes.


Cancellations

We would ask that if you wish to cancel your cake order you give us no less than one week's notice. Depending on the circumstances, time and expense we have invested to that point any monies paid may not be refunded.

For any cancellations within 7 days of the delivery date you will have to pay the full amount for the cake whether or not you take delivery of it.

In very rare and exceptional circumstances (such as a family emergency) we reserve the right to cancel a cake at any time.  No charges will be made, and all money paid will be refunded but no compensation will be payable should this occur.


Collection or Delivery

Cakes can be collected from our premises at a pre-arranged date and time only. We would kindly request that customers are prompt in collecting their cakes and would call us to advise if they are going to be late.

All of our cakes should be transported on a flat surface, ideally the boot or foot well of the car. We would not recommend that cakes are carried on the front or rear seats of the car or, in some cases, even on a passengers lap.

Some of our cakes, especially tiered cakes or large 3D cakes can be very heavy. Please bear this in mind when collecting.

You, or a representative, will be required to sign a release form which states that you have accepted the cake in perfect condition and that you accept responsibility for the cake.Wish Cakes cannot be held responsible for any destruction of said cake or products once they are in the care of the customer.


Refunds

We pride ourselves in making high quality cakes and take time and care with every order. Should you have a problem with your cake we would ask that you return it, if possible in it's entirety, on the next working day, for evaluation. If we deem it appropriate, we will refund no more than the value of the cake. Unfortunately, we are unable to give any further compensation.


Cake storage and Shelf Life

We recommend that all cakes are stored in a cool dark place on a flat sturdy surface in the box provided.

Please do not store cakes in the fridge as this will cause condensation to form on the cake when it is removed from the fridge and may damage the icing and decoration.

All our cakes will stay fresh for a minimum of 7 days from delivery or collection. Our rich fruit cakes have a minimum shelf life of 6 months.



Wish Cakes may at any time, at its sole discretion, amend, vary or modify these Terms Conditions without notice.
